A RESOLUTION

Commending New Order for its outstanding contributions to the Atlanta community; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, founded in 1992 in Toledo, Ohio, by Mr. Gerald Rose, New Order is a nonprofit human rights organization created "for the people" that strives to assist individuals, businesses, and other organizations with the nonviolent resolution of human rights violations; and

WHEREAS, bringing hope and reassurance to communities across the nation, its members work to resolve and eliminate harassment, racial profiling, and favoritism in the work environment and the school and justice systems; and

WHEREAS, this outstanding advocacy group established its movement in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 24, 2000, and, since that time, has been working diligently to guide young people towards a more successful and constructive future; and

WHEREAS, through such activities as conducting a youth intervention meeting, speaking at Metro Atlanta youth detention centers, and encouraging students to do their best in school and always reach for their highest dreams, this organization has made a significant impact on the Atlanta community, and it is highly fitting and proper that the hard work and dedication of its many members be recognized appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending New Order for its exemplary dedication to human rights and to improving the lives of Georgia's youth.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to New Order.

Get Invovled

Together we can make a greater impact more than any individual or group can do on their own. We all have something to give. Join our Youth Outreach and Community Service programs to give back to communities where we can make a difference.

Law Enforcement Reform

Excessive Force and police abuse is a major problem especially in communities of color.  However, racism is far from the only factor. All citizens must help reduce police abuse even if they are never subject to being assaulted by police.
